Mount Baker Theatre

Washington’s largest theatrical venue north of Seattle is graced with music and dance, classic theatre, and modern performance. In 2018, the historical stage welcomed Jane Goodall, The Price is Right Live, Neko Case, and several international performances, not to mention dozens of local artists and productions.

This nonprofit space provides a stage for small theatre groups, bands, and artists who are just starting out. Listen to music from around the world and watch original plays by local playwrights or twists on beloved classics. Think stagings of three-person Macbeth, Terminator the Musical, and so many other innovative performances.

The Upfront Theatre

Ryan Stiles, improv actor and co-producer of Whose Line is it Anyway?, founded The Upfront Theatre as a home for improv comedy. Catch a show Thursdays-Sundays every week. Interested in trying improv yourself? Visit the free drop-in class held the first Saturday of every month.

Pickford Film Center

Watch independent films in a vibrant, historic downtown movie theatre. The unique Pickford environment is perfect for enjoying productions both local and international. From April 4th through 6th, 2019, enjoy a full weekend of music videos, animated stories, documentaries, and other music-inspired films. The Pickford also provides delicious local snacks including chocolate, cheese, wine, and beer. Also check out the Limelight: the Pickford’s sister theatre rotating old blockbusters.

Boundary Bay Brewery

Nicknaming its outdoor zone “Bellingham’s Backyard,” this popular restaurant and brewery hosts live music at least five times a week. Guests are welcome to enjoy the sounds with an award-winning beer and meal from the comprehensive menu.

Downtown Sounds

Every summer, the eclectic musical offerings of Whatcom County and beyond come together for a festival of sound. Tantalize your senses with all the different musical styles and local tastes the Bellingham area has to offer. Visit Bay and Prospect St on Wednesday evenings between July 10th and August 7th, 2019 - streets are closed off for dancing, food and fun!

Downtown Art Walk

Wander the evening streets of downtown Bellingham on the first Friday of every month, 6pm to 10pm, to view new local artistic creations. The Artwalk path meanders between galleries, shops, restaurants, studios, and business fronts, boasting paintings, photographs, fiber arts, and other rotating media. Tuesday through Saturday every week from 12pm to 5pm, visit the Make.Shift Art Gallery to see the latest local creations.
